Khaya Foundation is an organisation that strives to empower young people through education in Zimbabwe and here in the UK.
Our objectives include raising awareness of the financial struggles faced by young Zimbabweans & raising funds to provide practical solutions to alleviate some of these problems. We raise funds in various ways: annual charity gala, sponsored walks/runs, raffles and fundraising activities in collaboration with local business/organisations.

Open Position — Administrator
The Administrator will be responsible for general office support to ensure that all Khaya activities are carried out in an organised and timely manner. The role will require a collaborative working relationship with donors, fundraisers (ambassadors), project managers, HR and the chairperson.
Responsibilities
Managing diaries, arranging meetings, completing expenses, drafting letters.
Taking minutes during meetings.
Circulating minutes after meetings.
Making the Khaya online filing system.
Providing general office support when required.
Contacting potential Khaya collaborators, donors and partners as instructed by the chairperson.
Sending out the monthly newsletter to Khaya subscribers.
Working collaboratively with others in all aspects of Khaya’s work.
Time commitment
This is a flexible role to suit your availability. This role requires a minimum of 1.5 hours per week. Attendance to all meetings is not compulsory but it is a requirement that you attend at least 2 meetings a month to keep up to date with the activities of the charity.
Qualifications
Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build empathy and communicate professionally.
Attention to detail.
Good organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise.
Experience of maintaining accurate records.
The proven ability to work well as part of a team.
Open Position — Treasurer
To monitor the financial administration of the charity and report to the board of trustees at regular intervals on its state of financial health, in line with best practice, and in compliance with the governing document and legal requirements to provide the board with the confidence and knowledge to better make strategic decisions. The main responsibilities and duties include:
Overseeing and presenting budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the board of trustees.
Leading in the board’s duty to ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly controlled, invested and economically spent, in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements
Leading in the development and implementation of financial reserves, cost management and investment policies
Liaising, where applicable, with the appropriate member of staff responsible for the financial activities of the organisation
Chairing any finance committee in line with standing orders and terms of reference, and reporting back to the board of trustees
Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity
Overseeing the implementation of and monitoring specific financial controls and adherence to systems
Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan
Qualifications
Accounting background experience.
Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build empathy and communicate professionally.
Attention to detail.
Good organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise.

Open Position — Ambassadors
Organising/attending invited events, for example sponsored walks, charity galas, bake sales, and any other fundraising activities. To inspire people to support Khaya through fundraising (play an influencer role), or to thank supporters for the fundraising they have completed.
To represent the charity in a professional manner in person, social media, etc.
To make conversation with members of the public as appropriate, and to answer.
questions about the charity and raise awareness about our mission.
To promote planned fundraising initiatives and activities.
Liaising with other members of the foundation when planning or coordination events, and to attend charity meetings to plan events and give progress reports.
Ambassadors are also encouraged to recruit and train new ambassadors.
Time commitment
This is a flexible role to suit your availability. Ambassadors are expected to commit at least 1 hour to the Foundation and to communicate more frequently with the Khaya team if there is an on-going campaign. Ambassadors are expected to attend monthly fundraising meetings to discuss fundraising strategies and campaigns with the Khaya team.
